The PERON Stage 2 ECU calibration, developed by NickK, PERON's in-house calibrator, was tailored to improve the driving dynamics of this Porsche 992.1 GT3 Touring. This tuning solution increases performance, driveability, and responsiveness, working seamlessly with the Akrapovič Evolution Line exhaust system to take full advantage of the freer-flowing exhaust gases and improved airflow dynamics.

The calibration effectively broadens the powerband, ensuring robust performance where it matters most—throughout the full RPM range. By focusing on torque gains at low to medium RPMs and maintaining smooth power delivery at the top end, this tuning delivers a stronger, more engaging driving experience. Peak horsepower increased from 453 hp to 481 hp, while peak torque saw sensible gains, rising from 333 ft-lbs to 336 ft-lbs. Notably, at 8,150 rpm, the GT3 achieved an additional 35 hp, while torque at 4,250 rpm increased by 40 ft-lbs. (The peak torque gain would increase further with the addition of a PDK tune because the stock software limits the maximum output.) These enhancements contribute to sharper throttle response and a more exhilarating drive during spirited driving, all while maintaining reliability on standard Shell V-Power 99 RON fuel.

Key Benefits of the Calibration

This tuning solution was thoughtfully engineered to accommodate the removal of the factory Otto Particulate Filters (OPFs) and optimised for the increase in volumetric efficiency (VE) from the complete Akrapovič exhaust system. The removal of the restrictive OPFs and the improved gas flow dynamics allowed for greater efficiency at all RPM levels while retaining safe and reliable performance on standard pump fuel—avoiding the need for high-octane race fuel or octane boosters.

With stock headers retained, the Slip-On Race Line (Titanium) delivers measurable gains of +8.8 hp at 2,900 rpm and +17.8 ft-lb of torque at 2,400 rpm. Additionally, the system achieves a weight reduction of 3.5 kg, making it 20.7% lighter than the stock exhaust setup

Engineered for closed-course competition circuits, the Evolution Header Set unlocks the true potential of the Slip-On Race Line system. By reducing back pressure and optimising exhaust routing, this upgrade delivers combined impressive gains of +22.6 hp at 4,550 rpm and +26.0 ft-lb of torque at 4,500 rpm. The titanium construction reduces weight by 3.8 kg, making it 28% lighter than the stock headers. This weight reduction improves vehicle agility, handling, and overall balance. When paired with the Slip-On Race Line, this combination transforms the GT3 into a track-ready powerhouse. ECU re-calibration is mandatory for vehicles equipped with particulate filters (OPF) and recommended for non-OPF vehicles to maximise performance and prevent warning signals.

Additionally, the introduction of a high-performance intake air filter would further improve the engine's breathing efficiency, leading to even better throttle response and slight gains in power. For enthusiasts looking to extract maximum performance, a specific tune for 102RON fuel is being developed. This allows for more aggressive ignition timing settings, safely extracting more power from the engine due to the higher quality fuel. These upgrades build on the existing modifications, pushing the vehicle closer to its performance ceiling while maintaining its everyday usability and Porsche’s renowned driving dynamics.
